What issue are you integrating into your narrative?
My film will deal with loss and separation during the war. Not only is this a typical convention of historical war films but it will also relate to modern wars and the separation soldiers and their families face during times of conflict. The audience may relate to the emotions of the protagonist as their lives are changed forever when Peter is sent out to war. The two characters will represent the two sides of the story; Peter will deal with the first hand contact with war, his friends may have been killed in action and he will deal with PTSD that will cause him torment and a rift in his relationships. On the other hand Margaret will be a character in the outside, she has only been fed with the illusion of war, the propaganda posters and positive letters home. Without any true contact with war she will be anxious constantly, waiting and hoping for her letter of return from Peter, this senseless waiting impacts many families worldwide not knowing if their loved ones will return from war. Seeing Margaret get through it and keep herself busy and positive may allow them to not feel so hopeless and that they can continue being themselves and proud of their partners.
